Hi, welcome to Game of Thrones Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the User:Greater good page.

We welcome all contributions to the Wiki but please be aware of the following simple rules:

1) This wiki is meant for the Game of Thrones TV series and the TV alone. Spoilers from the novels are not permitted at all. Discussion of earlier events in the novels and the use of non-spoiler background material from the novel as regards specific events, characters and places in the TV series are allowed (in the 'In the books' section of an article) but future events cannot be discussed.

2) This wiki has specific permission from HBO's marketing department to use a reasonable number of promotional images and screencaps from the series to illustrate articles. The use of other copyrighted images is not permitted without either specific permission or fair use attributions. For example, this Wiki cannot use Amoka's portrait images or Ted Nasmith's castle pictures as these are copyrighted. In addition, the Wiki is focused on the TV series and TV series alone. Images from other media should be avoided without a very good cause.

Enjoy your editing and please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Opark 77 (Talk) 15:58, February 26, 2012

Unused footage and infoboxes

I don't think we should list actors who haven't actually appeared in released episodes in character infoboxes - their role is not significant enough in my opinion. Having a brief mention of the recasting in the body text of a character article seems more than enough to me.--Opark 77 16:27, February 26, 2012 (UTC)

Image policy

Thanks for adding the image File:Aerys.jpg. Please could you take a look at our image policy. For each image that we use we need to ensure that we have the following information on the image page, all of which should be added by the uploader at the point of upload:

 1. The source (naming the video clip or episode for screenshots and providing a URL for images from other websites)
 2. A description (state what the image shows)
 3. A licensing tag (permission for screenshots)
 4. Appropriate categories (e.g. Category: Image (Special Features) and Category: Image (Character) for screenshots of characters from the special features, to add these just type )

I have added as much of this information to your image as I can to show you what we need. I'm afraid I don't have Blu Ray so I cannot state what feature it comes from, could you let me know or add the information to the image?

In future I hope that you will be able to add this information yourself. If you fail to do so I will let you know and nominate the image in question for deletion. I will then review it 1 week later and will be happy if you have added the required information so we can keep it, otherwise I will have to delete it. If you need assistance adding the required information just let me know and I will do my best to help.

I highly recommend working from a template when uploading images. Personally I always copy and paste this:

This image is a screencap from "EPISODE." The image is copyrighted by HBO. This image is used with the permission of HBO but on the understanding that it can be removed at any time. The image shows DESCRIPTION.

Then I only need to fill in the name of the episode and a brief description (obviously this requires a bit more adaptation for images from the special features).--Opark 77 15:48, May 22, 2012 (UTC)

You're not using the right licensing tag - we have permission to use screen shots from the show so they should get permission not fairuse. Please use the template I have provided you with. If you continue to upload images with the wrong licensing tag, or insufficient information then I will have no choice but to block you from editing. Please go back through your recent uploads and add this template to them so that they have the correct licensing tag, and the right information regarding the permission and copyright of the images.--Opark 77 (talk) 00:48, July 23, 2012 (UTC)

Yara's photo

Love the image. It has an amazing quality, its an amazing improvement compared to Chrys' low quality, narrow-cut images.Gonzalo84 18:31, June 21, 2012 (UTC)

Replacing photos

Instead of just removing them, it is mandatory for you to move the replaced image to the article gallery.--Gonzalo84 06:40, June 22, 2012 (UTC)

Once again you've changed article photos without moving the replaced one to the article gallery. Consider this your second warning. One more and you will be temporarily blocked from editing.--Gonzalo84 03:44, July 2, 2012 (UTC)

You've been removing images instead of replacing them again. Please stop.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 00:18, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, I warned you about this yesterday, but you went back onto the Aegon Targaryen page and removed an image anyway. You can't remove images, you have to put them somewhere else in the page (unless you're replacing it with a similar, better shot of something from the same scene).--The Dragon Demands (talk) 17:15, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

New images

Don't forget to categorize images and add the proper information.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 03:56, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Grey King

In that image you added to the infobox you can only see his silhouette. Restore the previous image and move the silhouette to a gallery.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 05:54, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

Don't forget to crop them properly. That one you posted on Fall of Winterfell has a black line on the top. Fix it.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 15:44, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

Complete Guide 2 images

While I'm annoyed here and there about some things with putting in new images (making sure not to remove older images, making sure they're cropped properly, etc.) the images from the Complete Guide Season 2 you've been loading up are a MASSIVE benefit and save me and everyone else a lot of time that would have been spent screencapping them. Thank you.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 17:18, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

Unnecessary code in articles

Be careful when writings there's a lot of that in some articles. Like Night's Queen.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 04:49, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

When you add original text to articles be sure to avoid using literary prose. Your lengthy update to the Jeor Mormont page for the events of season 3 episode 4 was far from encyclopedic. Don't use ellipses between paragraphs, keep text concise and avoid unnecessary words, avoid overly dramatic descriptions, link to information rather than overly describe things that are already in place elsewhere (ie: just say "as he broke guest right" rather than "as a guest killing a host who has formally accepted him into his home breaks all the laws of gods and men"), etc etc. Remember that you are reporting information, not telling stories.

rjcripe (talk) 02:15, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Greater Good copy-pasted the section of my episode-summary relevant to Mormont into the Jeor Mormont page; this is often done as a stop-gap measure when we have a lot of editing to do in the middle of a ten episode season's run. I fully support his actions. This wasn't a "serious", "permanent" summary added to Mormont's page, it was meant to get the ball rolling. would know this if you'd been editing here earlier. You'd have known this if you hadn't started editing TODAY on this wiki.
You have made NO contributions to this wiki, other than to harass Greater Good, one of our regulars. Not even one edit.
Yet you have the audacity to write an arrogant lecture berating Greater Good on the finer points of prose writing? Which 1 - you'd know he was copy-pasting an episode summary as a stop-gap measure if you ever edited here, 2 - is kind of ridiculous when one considers that you've never written a damn thing on this wiki before.
In short, Rjcripe, I can't stand for this. In all seriousness and honesty, please explain why I shouldn't ban you from this wiki for harassing regular editors like Greater Good? This isn't a rhetorical question. Can you give me any reason or justification for not banning you?--The Dragon Demands (talk) 05:01, April 24, 2013 (UTC)
From a utilitarian perspective, in which the needs of the many outweigh the concerns of the few, your banning would serve the greater good.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 05:02, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

Characters from the RPG game

Those characters do not belong here. The articles and images will be deleted. I recommend another wikia.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 06:38, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

I don't want to mess your effort so you have one hour so you can save your work in your sandbox or another wiki. Then I'll proceed wit the summary deletion.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 06:41, May 4, 2013 (UTC)
Agreed. The computer game uses imagery and voices from the TV show and is published under a HBO licence, so the article for the game itself can stay, but the storyline and characters are not canon for either the TV show or book and it is not appropriate to put articles about them either on this wiki or the book one. Properly speaking, it should have its own Wikia altogether.--Werthead (talk) 09:18, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

Clegane family tree

Thanks for the work.!

 • Cleganes are not "Lords", they are landed knights. I know in the bluray extra the Hound says "Gregor became lord of the Clegane lands", that doesn't mean Gregor is a real lord, if that was the case he would be referred to as Lord Gregor Clegane and not Ser Gregor Clegane. Thus, neither his father can be called "Lord Clegane" nor his mother "lady Clegane". And non a side note, these unidentified characters shouldn't be linked anymore than the Bolton family tree has a link to Ramsay Snow's mother.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 23:33, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

The template needs cleanup. Articles with the tree show redundant unused code.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 04:47, May 8, 2013 (UTC)

Season 2 featurettes

They are part of Histories & Lore", not the Complete Guide to Westeros. Fix it please.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 02:35, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

Walder Frey's daughters/granddaughters

It is a mistake to write "XXXXXXX is THE daughter/granddaughter of Lord Walder Frey" since Lord Walder has lots and lots of daughters/granddaughters. Fix it please.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 04:56, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

Image uploads

Make sure to add the appropriate description, copyright status, and categories to your recent uploads. Also, can you please remove the white border from the Kenneth Hadley image. Thanks.--The-Boy 10:39, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

House Martell family tree

Could you create one? It must include:

 • Prince Doran Martell, Prince Oberyn Martell, Princess Elia Martell
 • Prince Rhaegar (as Elia's husband)
 • Prince Aegon and Princess Rhaenys (as Elia's children)
 • Prince Trystane Martell (Doran's son)

Also, just like Rhaego is included in the Targaryen tree, the Stark and Tully trees should include Robb and Talisa's unborn child.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 21:03, June 6, 2013 (UTC)

Unlike Talisa's pregnancy in very early stage, Rhaego was full-term and stillborn.

I agree; Rhaego was given birth to, while Talisa's (not in book) pregnancy was too early to really consider -- particularly given how complicated the family tree for House Stark already is.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 21:22, June 6, 2013 (UTC)

Tyrion calls Trystane Martell the "youngest son" doesn't that mean in the TV universe that there is at least one older son? And Ellaria Sand might be in 4th season and is she in House Marttel?

This will help: Ellaria Sand is functionally considered to be Oberyn Martell's wife in all but name; she is a paramour, a professional courtesan, but she's sort of his live-in romantic interest and has four children with him.

Basically the structure is that Doran and Oberyn are brothers, and Doran himself has three children: Arianne, Quentyn, and Trystane. Oberyn complicates things because he has eight bastard daughters by five separate women; just as the Baratheon family tree has a box that says "Various Bastards" it might be easier to make one catch-all box that says "Sand Snakes" (their nickname because all eight use the bastard name Sand). The last four aren't really old enough to be major characters yet and all four are with Ellaria. The older four, meanwhile, are by four separate women: Obara (daughter of an Oldtown whore), Nymeria (daughter of a Volantene noblewoman), Tyene (daughter of a septa, of unspecified origin), and Sarella (daughter of a woman from the Summer Islands who captained her own trading ship). Given that they haven't been introduced yet, just make a box between Oberyn and Ellaria that says "Sand Snakes". Side note: interested in how they'll cast the Dornish characters, hope they don't white-wash them (they look "Mediterranean", could conceivably be played by anything from Italian to Greek to Arab to South Asian, really). Sarella might flat-out be played by a woman of African descent. Only exception is Tyene, they never said where her mother was from, but Tyene is stated to take after her mother and have blonde hair and blue eyes (she doesn't look Dornish).--The Dragon Demands (talk) 23:31, June 6, 2013 (UTC)

Looks great, but one thing I forgot: can you add in Myrcella Baratheon, putting one of the dashed "betrothal" lines between her and Trystane?--The Dragon Demands (talk) 23:59, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
But there weren't betrothal shown on the Stark family for during season 2 between Arya to Waldron Frey or season 1 and 2 between Sansa to Joffrey for example.

"Complete Guide to Westeros" on Youtube

While it is laughably easy to find the "Complete Guide to Westeros" online on youtube and such, technically this is illegal, and they have to be bought with the Blu-rays. I don't mind, but HBO will get angry with us if we post links to these illegal uploads. Please remove all of the Complete Guide videos you added.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 17:24, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the much better photo of Shireen (she's one of my favorite characters), that photo needed to be updated for a while.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 21:33, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

Categorization of Salladhor Saan and similar

Salladhor is categorized in "Characters from Lys". It is redundant to add him to "Characters from the Free Cities". If not, we should add Ned to "Characters from Westeros" even though he's already listed in "Characters from the North". The most specific categorization takes precedence over broader ones.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 03:15, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

House Locke

I am also annoyed they haven't rounded out the other Houses as much (though I understand they don't want to overburden us with information; even up to the events of the Red Wedding, I had friends who I had to explain to them what "House Bolton" was...ugh...). But the renamed Vargo as "Locke" follows their tactic of just yanking an established Westeros-name out of the index when they need to invent characters (i.e. lets call a prostitute "Genna" because that's an establish Westerosi name). But "Locke", the character, is stated to be from House Bolton - and House Locke doesn't directly serve the Boltons in the books. Thus "Locke" the character, isn't enough to establish House Locke just yet. This annoys me deeply, but we're kind of stuck. I even wasted time making my own little map chart of Norther Houses they have or have not introduced so far:

On-screen characters shown, even if minor and nonspeaking, or at least mentioned prominently in dialogue by other characters:

 • Umber
 • Karstark
 • Mormont
 • Manderley
 • Glover
 • Bolton
 • Reed

Loosely established within the TV show continuity, i.e. because their heraldry has been shown.

 • Hornwood (heraldry prominently seen at the Tourney of the Hand)
 • Dustin (mentioned in dialogue by Arya, who also describes their heraldry)
 • Cerwyn (heraldry did appear albeit in a blink or you'll miss moment)
 • Talhart (only briefly mentioned in the HBO viewer's guide map)

Not yet established within the TV series:

 • Locke
 • Flint (all branches, including Flint of Widow's Watch and Flint of Flint's Finger)
 • Ryswell (considering that the "Ryswell-Dustins" as I call them, are really an interlocking family as Lady Barbery Dustin is a widow but was born a Ryswell and is indeed the daughter of the current Lord Ryswell)
 • The Northern Mountain clains (over 40 clans, particularly Wull, Flint, Norrey, Burley, Harclay, Liddle, and Knotts - though they're more civilized than the Hill Tribes of the Vale, and Winterfell always gave them respect by treating them with the full honors of regular "Houses" and using House terminology with them, etc.)

So we're still waiting on Locke, the Flints, the Ryswell-Dustins, and the Northern Mountain Clans. Yes I've got a running list and I'm checking these off. Of course, this is a list of major Houses, not minor Houses that serve other major Houses (i.e. the Marshes are vassals of the Reeds).

I felt bad deleting the House Locke page after the work you put in and felt compelled to write up an explanation here. Sorry about the length.

The short version is: Be still my dog of war! I understand your pain. We've all lost someone we love. But we do it my way! We do it my way. --The Dragon Demands (talk) 04:53, July 11, 2013 (UTC)

My house allegiance is Greyjoy. -- --Greater good (talk) 12:03, August 18, 2013 (UTC)

Oh...I actually set up a House Greyjoy userbox a while ago, if you want it. I do see the Iron Islands as loosely analogous to Ireland in the story; well using the rough approximation that "Westeros = Britain", and the Iron Islands are these islands off the coast. The bigger influence is "Vikings", but you've got thousands of years of "Pictish raiders" and whatnot coming in over the Irish Sea, or even actual Vikings once they set up their raiding posts in Dublin, Waterford, Wexford, etc.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 14:06, August 18, 2013 (UTC)

Some images look better without being cropped into square images. Stannis and Selyse's wedding looks better with the pages holding her veil, while Sam's image in Horn Hill might benefit from him surrounded by all the warriors, and the proper explanation

Histories & Lore screencaps

From the Red Keep could you get Baelor's sisters? Rhaena is the one reading from the Seven Pointed Star. Regarding the other two, my guess is that Daena is the one sitting looking kind of "defiant" and the one looking through the window is Elaena.

Could you also get a screencap of the Reed sigil?--Gonzalo84 (talk) 02:55, February 22, 2014 (UTC)

Wikia Game of Thrones Review Videos

Hi, there! I work in marketing for Wikia -- helping to highlight cool things that our communities are doing around anticipated entertainment.

We've got something cool coming up around Game of Thrones and I wondered if you might want to be a part of it. We'll be producing a short video each week that contrasts fan reactions to the series with a TV critic perspective -- the idea is to have a little fun back and forth.

I can give ya more details! If this sounds like something you might be interested in, give me a shout on my wall or email Thanks! Brian@fandom 15:15, February 28, 2014 (UTC)

External links icons

You've done an amazing work with them. However, I think this edits should be tagged as minor edits so they don't fill the entire Recent Wiki Activity page.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 22:43, March 29, 2014 (UTC)

I just switched to "see all edits" and "see 500 edits" and scanned through them all quickly for anything that wasn't an external link. Though yeah clicking the "minor edit" icon will help clarify stuff.
Keep up the good work.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 23:06, March 29, 2014 (UTC)

Season 2 character pages

I agree fully with your position. Though before deleting them outright I think we should salvage whatever useful detailed information was on them.

Unfortunately we're up to our eyes in work for the Season 4 premiere, so this may have to be an ongoing task. I really need your help on this as I can't do it alone.

Continue this conversation over on the Talk page for deletion candidates, I made a list of all of the pages there:

I don't think I missed any but I'm not sure.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 03:49, April 5, 2014 (UTC)

Wikia Fan vs. Critic Game of Thrones Update

Hi, Greater Good.

Just wanted to give you an update on the planned episode of Wikia Fan vs. Critic. We've posted our first episode of the series -- about The Walking Dead finale -- here . Check it out! Just a reminder: We're planning to launch this as a recurring weekly series starting with the second week of the new season (we're doing a trivia video the first week) -- it would post to here on the Tuesday or Wednesday after airing.  Hope you'll still be available to participate! We'd love to have you on.

You've got my info. :-) Let me know if you're still on and if you have any questions at all! Thanks, sir.

Apology and Explanation

I was behind these past few months due to my thesis, which was very frustrating work; I finally finished a few weeks ago and I've been catching up ever since on the edits and fixes made when I couldn't devote full attention to the wiki. Thankfully, just in time for the Season 4 premiere. Though there are larger ongoing tasks I didn't get to (a complete rewatch from the beginning of Season 1...)

Anyway, I feel I need to apologize to some of you on here and provide an explanation I was reluctant to reveal:

As you may remember, I was getting really irritable late last fall, Draevan13 pointed out this bad behavior, and there was a vote over whether my Admin rights should be taken away (which I survived). Then in a fog of frustration I demanded that Draevan13 be banned (which didn't happen). Also I'm really upset, in hindsight, at how acerbic I was towards QueenBuffy during the vote over my Admin rights.

Well I apologize, but the explanation is this: due to my panic about the massive task of working on my thesis (the culmination of three years of work)...around last September I intentionally stopped taking my prescribed anti-depressants.

I grew afraid that they were making me too bleary to devote my full concentration on the problems in my thesis. And arguably they were, but the price of renewed focus was mounting agitation at minor things, until I was practically going nuclear. The way anti-depressants work, for that matter, isn't just like turning on or off a light switch: it takes days or weeks for the levels to gradually increase or decrease in your body, depending on how much you take. Last September I quit cold turkey, with no attempt to wean myself off gradually (even that have eventually left me agitated)....the result being that more and more left my system as weeks and months passed, until by November-December I was ready to explode.

So when I was acting so irrationally and filled with rage this past fall, it was because I was medically in an unfit mental condition to edit. Combined with the extreme stress of a thesis deadline. That's not me. Frankly, given how much I was exploding in real life as a result, I am surprise I even maintained as much restraint as I did on here.

I've sporadically stopped taking them at past times (which probably led to some of my prior, lesser outbursts) but never for as long as four months.

As to why I have been taking prescribed anti-depressants for some years? Well, watching my medically diagnosed psychopath father repeatedly beating my mother to a pulp in front of me when I was a toddler did not exactly leave me with a cheery disposition.

At any rate by Christmas Break I was with my family and I was having random grumpy outbursts about the thesis (plus being four months off anti-depressants I was kind of nuts). They realized I had obviously stopped taking them (I didn't tell them because they'd have tried to stop me and force me to take them). But they instead begged that I wasn't acting like myself and to start taking them again. Sort of a moot point because by then my thesis was mostly finished. So I started taking anti-depressants again, and while I don't have quite the same level of extreme focus anymore, at this point I was just copy-editing and tidying it up, so the heavy work was behind me anyway.

The's like Nash in A Beautiful Mind when he keeps trying to stop taking his medication because he can barely focus when he's on them. When I'm off the antidepressants my mental focus is incredible, but it leads me to becoming irrationally frustrated, angry or depressed at seemingly minor things. Brilliance and madness, both halves of the same coin, a crazed father as family legacy, living on the sufferance of others after...ever wonder why I'm such a hardcore Daenerys Targaryen fan?

So at this point, I've been taking anti-depressants again for three months and have no intention of ever stopping. I hope you feel that my behavior has been more "rational" these past three months and more befitting of a Wiki Administrator.

I hope you appreciate that I am deeply humiliated by revealing this private information, however, I realized that objectively, you guys would have no idea why the heck I was lashing out like that last Fall, so I think I really needed to provide you with the explanation that I was medically not fit to edit at the time because I stopped taking anti-depressants.

I look forward to working with you all in Season 4.

(Please delete this comment once you are finished reading it and respond on my talk page if you choose; I don't want it showing up in Google search).--The Dragon Demands (talk) 22:38, April 6, 2014 (UTC)

Season 4 premiere

Think of it: only 2 hours until Season 4 begins. Then the floodgates open. To say nothing of the horde of vandals, the massive amount of new work, we'll have dozens or even hundreds of random editors coming on making sloppy edits.

This will consume us, as you remember back in Season 3.

Good to be alongside you guys trying to handle this oncoming horde.

Have no illusions: not all of us will make it through premiere night alive.

The enemy is at the gates.

He who stands with me shall be my brother.

Family tree image

Could you update Jon Snow's family tree image with this new picture I uploaded (have no access to the family tree template for House Stark)? Thanks! – The Snow Prince (talk) 09:54, June 7, 2014 (UTC)

Hello. If you have a moment, do you think it's worth updating this with "Deceased"? and also wondering if you'd be adverse to other discussion about other updates in general (no pressure, just tell me to bugger off)? Noticed you're also in Ireland which is neat. Ardilaun (talk) 16:53, June 9, 2014 (UTC)

Sigils in battle and war infoboxes

In wikipedia, which we have used as our model, the flags go to the left side of the name.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 04:20, June 10, 2014 (UTC)

The in-laws of your spouse are not your in-laws, you don't need to keep listing that in infoboxes. For example, Edmure Tully is Eddard Stark's brother-in-law through Catelyn Tully, but that doesn't make Catelyn's sister-in-law Roslin Frey also Eddard's sister-in-law.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 00:55, June 16, 2014 (UTC)

Season 4 finale

The Season 4 finale is upon us. The internet is going to explode after this one, on par with or surpassing the Red Wedding or Ned Stark's death. Enough traffic that the site itself might slow to a crawl, much less all of the vandals or random anonymous editors who need to tinker with it.

The hordes are closing in.

This is where we hold them.

Remember this day.

Which island?

Out of pure curiosity: if you're a Greyjoy supporter, which of the seven Iron Islands would you be from?

 • Pyke - capital
 • Great Wyk - largest, only one with some families who gain more wealth from the land than the sea
 • Old Wyk - oldest and most prestigious
 • Harlaw - second largest (still fairly large), but the wealthiest and most heavily populated
 • Orkmont - the old capital from the days of House Hoare
 • Blacktyde - the only island with a small Faith of the Seven presence
 • Saltcliffe - (what goes on in Saltcliffe?)

Vote of No Confidence against Adam Whitehead (Werthead)

Whatever sympathy I had for him died when I read his defiant responses. This is long but please read through every line.

Adam's defenses basically came down to:

 • 1 - he officially considers his writings on his private blog to take precedence over contributing here, and we should accept that...even as he is sent to convention panels hosted by Wikia itself to represent this wiki.
 • 2 - Well, we were doing such a good job of handling things that he couldn't think of anything more to contribute (despite our pervasive complaints asking him to help, or that we kept asking him to do specific tasks like re-skin the wiki...which he failed to do throughout Season 3, until we had to cobble one together ourselves. Bureaucrat-level tasks that only head could have done and which he could not possibly have assumed we were "handling" without him.
 • 3 - Adam actually claimed that he wasn't contributing that much due to the airing schedule in England being a few days behind the USA. He said that we usually get so many things done in the gap before he sees it a few days later that he can't think of anything to write. Ignoring that fact that two of our other Administrators live in the British Isles.---- Moreover this claim made no defense whatsoever against his lack of contributions during the off-seasons! (the Season 2-3 break, 3-4 break, and now three months into the 4-5 break). He also said that he hasn't been helping out with vandals "because he lives in England", and most vandalism is concentrated around new episode airings. No...Vandalism occurs at any hour of the day! And during the off-season!

...did Adam ever ask YOU to contact him using his e-mail or's forums? Did he ever even give you his e-mail? How many times have you tried to contact him via his Talk page? In which case, if he doesn't prefer that method...why didn't he clearly explain "contact me using my e-mail" the first time we made such complaints, over a year ago? How could we have?

--The Dragon Demands (talk) 19:08, October 7, 2014 (UTC)

The current situation is this: the Wikia Staff say they can't remove Adam, that's simply up to us. Depending on how the other 5 Admins vote in the forum thread I started. Wikia Staff has no control over that. With no repercussions from them if we vote to remove Adam's Administratorship, and/or decry his inactivity. I already voted to remove his Adminship, so that leaves the four of you. I've spoken with you each via e-mail to know that you guys either didn't actively support him, or said in as many words that we need new leadership.

If I die, I die. But before that, I'll live. The show is going to end in three or four seasons, and I realized I couldn't keep going on in what time remains with Adam claiming credit for all the work going on here, when his activity fell down to ridiculous levels. If I lose everything for that - it happens. But I couldn't keep going on being taken advantage of like that. I'd rather go out on my own terms. Well, read through his responses and my responses in the forum thread thoroughly. I will respect your decisions.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 01:35, October 8, 2014 (UTC)

I looked these up: those Shire Post coins aren't even accurate to the books, most of them, and in some cases contradict the TV show. They're fanon products, nothing official. See more here:

Annoyingly, though, HBO's Online Store is still selling them to the unwary.

Telltale images

Hey Greater good. Just a quick heads up; Images from the new game need to be tagged with "TelltaleImage", rather than "HBOImage", and categorised with Image (Telltale Game Series). Do you think you'll be getting the game yourself?--Ser Patrek, the Wolfskinner 11:56, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

OK, noted. I'm not as big a gamer as I used to be. I haven't updated my console since PS2! But I have a friend who is a big gamer and a big Game of Thrones fan, so I'll get to play it when he gets it. By the way, since we're including things from the Telltale Games series, can we also include things from the Cyanide game? --Greater Good (talk) 12:21, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

The Cyanide game is non-canon, so no, I'm afraid not. It was just a crappy cash-cow piece of merchandise, not worth bothering with.--Ser Patrek, the Wolfskinner 12:36, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

Episode 2 Mainpage Changes

This is Knakveey from Wikia's game team. I wanted to reach out to some of the active admins with a request in regards to the main page for the upcoming Telltale: GoT episode 2 that is due out soon. This is of course a request and you can decline to have any changes made, but you might find some of the suggestions helpful for the wiki.

- Would it be possible to have the latest fannotation trailers highlighted on the mainpage slider? I know it is currently under "featured media", but it would be great to have it in the slider too.

- What are your thoughts about adding a "Telltale" link under the "Episodes" tab in the nav bar? It would allow users to access articles in regards to the game more efficiently.

- We thought it would be nice to add a right rail unit that highlights the most recent game episode/game character/crucial choice, etc. This would be a new unit on the page and it would be designed by our artists here. They would make something that is slick and will not deviate from the overall look of the wiki. This design will also be sent to you before proceeding so we can make sure it's something that you like and are happy with. Alternatively, what about using the existing "Featured Article" section to highlight the current episode?

If you prefer, I can also post this on the forum/small council and repeat what I have mentioned above.

Again, you do not need to do any of these things, but it is something we think can help improve traffic to the page and increase it's reputation for being a great database for all things Game of Thrones.

Thanks for your time,

Knakveey (talk) 22:36, February 2, 2015 (UTC)

MediaWiki color scheme template

Okay, I finally got onto updating the color scheme of the nav templates, had to ask XD1 for help updating the new color scheme (instead of Blue and Grey (ugh), it's now Wood Brown and Beige - both blue links and black text will show up better against this).

The Appearances/Credits templates needed to be updated by hand because unlike the others they use a grid, but that was easy enough.

Only one that might still need updating is the House information Navbox - it uses three vertical columns so it's different from the others - managed to change the title bar to Wood Brown, but I couldn't get the background to Beige without making an ugly grid pattern, so I left it neutral.

At any rate, writing to inform that the next time we ever change the entire color scheme, the way to do it is by playing with the CSS code on this page:

If we remember this, next time we won't go a couple of weeks with the old color scheme in the templates because we don't know how to change it :) --The Dragon Demands (talk) 19:57, March 12, 2015 (UTC)

Hedge knight, Aemond

We have to avoid making near-direct quotes from AWOIAF. We don't legally own that stuff, it would be impolite. It's a useful guide to double-check facts on AWOIAF, but we've got to use our own wording as best as possible. Image deletion

Hey Greater good. You may have noticed in the recent changes feed that I deleted an image you uploaded to Game of Thrones Wiki: File:Kristen Gillespie.jpg. I wanted to let you know why this deleted.

This past Thursday, September 24th, we received a DMCA takedown notice alleging that the image constituted a violation of the copyright of the image's owner. If you're not familiar with the DMCA, it stands for Digital Millennium Copyright Act, a federal copyright law regulating copyright online. If a rights holder has a good faith belief that their copyright is being infringed, they can send a DMCA takedown notice to the host of the image. In this case, Wikia is the host. When we receive a properly completed takedown notice, we are legally required to remove the allegedly infringing material, as we did with the images here.

This copyright notice came from the subject of the image. In addition to the required elements of a takedown notice, the notice also said that the image was interfering with the subject's education. As an actress, the subject of the photo also has the right to control their image in a professional capacity.

If you, in turn, have a good faith belief that the images were removed in error or through misidentification, you are welcome to send us a DMCA Counter-Notice. The process for that, as well as more information about the DMCA process, can be found here. We can also send you the full DMCA takedown notice that we received if you would like to see it. An abridged version can be found here.

This was a lot of information, so please feel free to let me know if you have any questions about any of this. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea@fandom(talk) 14:32, September 29, 2015 (UTC)

Greater Good: I guess this DMCA means it really was the actress who e-mailed you (I wanted to try to get some confirmation before moving forward...). Well, at this point e-mail her a response saying that we deleted the article on her and removed her name entirely from any article in the wiki, changing it to just "uncredited".--The Dragon Demands (talk) 20:21, September 29, 2015 (UTC)

OK, I've sent her an email saying that we honored her wishes by deleting the image and the article and removed any mention of her name from the Wiki.--Greater Good (talk) 20:47, September 29, 2015 (UTC)

Just had an idea. What about making a category for pages that says "Image needs brightening"? I am going through so many, but I'd have a lot of help if people could add that category for me. That way I can brighten (or someone else can), the images so they are better seen. This could be infobox or images in the synopsis.. we'd be able to tell which it is. What do you think? Thanks. Brightened image

I have recently added this to our image policy:

 • Dark images need to be categorized with "Image (Brighter image needed)", yet ONLY admin's have the rights to actually brighten the image itself.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, if you see just any user trying to edit the images and tweak them. It could easily get out of hand. There is one user that has helped me and has done a good job. I will give her the opportunity to continue, since I've seen her work and trust her. Anyway, just wanted to past this on. QueenBuffy35px-Pink crown 21:20, August 7, 2016 (UTC)

Catch the Throne is complicated.

Yes, I am aware that HBO wanted to "reach out to a black African-American audience" for the show by, rather than including more black characters in the show, releasing a hip-hop fan mixtape.

I consider this so utterly, hilariously offensive - as did many commentators - that I don't want to dignify it by giving them an article on it in the wiki.

It's not actually "from" the TV show either. By definition it's...a fan merchandise product. We don't have articles on every pillow or wall-poster they release.

It just...really struck me the wrong way, the whole thing.

I don't know. Your thoughts?

I'd only consider putting it back in if we have like...a "Criticism" section at the bottom.

Let me re-iterate: "We'll pander to African-Americans who don't like the show for not having many black characters in it, by releasing a hip-hop album of fan songs about it". Wow.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 21:26, January 27, 2017 (UTC)

You're the last of the old guard Administrators from Season 4, and long overdue for a promotion.

Gonzalo84 and I discussed it some months ago and felt it was time to get you promoted to Bureaucrat status, co-equal with us.

If you want it - it is a lot of work.

But I can't see anyone objecting to you, you have a long and proven record.

...If yes, we can't just promote you up immediately with the click of a button. The Wikia higher-ups would probably consider that unseemly - Bureaucrats require us to make a formal vote page, just to make things nice and "official" a formality. I can't think of anyone objecting. But let me know if I should start.

We have the prequel era to look forward to and need you.

Headcanon pages

It's pretty excessive, to say the least. One mention of "six of the Faith Militant" in H&L and out of that you got "Ser Willam the Wanderer", "Ser Garibald of the Seven Stars", "Ser Dickon Flowers", "Ser Aegon Ambrose", "Ser Harys Horpe", "Ser Lyle Bracken". There was even other character details such as Dickon Flowers being a bastard of House Beesbury. And Brandon Snow. When was Brandon Snow talked about in Histories & Lore? The quote shows Viserys just mention "one suicidal lord". There was nothing about this lord being Torrhen's brother, or even being a bastard at all. It could have been anyone. There may just be something I'm not understanding about what's generally accepted on this wiki, so help me understand and I'll leave it alone. But right now this all purely seems like headcanon to me. ProtectorOfTheSevenKingdoms (talk) 17:49, January 25, 2019 (UTC)

The sooner we can discuss this with you guys, the sooner the test could start, hopefully to everyone's benefit - so please let me know your thoughts! Mira Laime @fandom  (help forum | blog) 23:33, February 19, 2019 (UTC)

LN casting

Thank you for updating the LN casting news today; I'm often busy watching my 2 year old nephew/godson.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 22:46, March 27, 2019 (UTC)

It's no problem, best of luck with everything. --Greater Good (talk) 23:18, March 27, 2019 (UTC)

Season 8 support

Hey Greater good, I hope all's well! I’m hoping to talk with you and all the other active admins about some ideas we have for how we can support Game of Thrones Wiki during Season 8. Do you mind if I include you on an email with the rest of the admins to send you some of those ideas? If so does the email address in your account work best? - Brandon Rhea@fandom(talk) 20:18, April 9, 2019 (UTC)

Hi Brandon. Yes, that would be great.--Greater Good (talk) 20:25, April 9, 2019 (UTC)
Great! I'm going to wait a bit until I hear from more admins, but you can expect to likely receive something from me tonight. - Brandon Rhea@fandom(talk) 20:55, April 9, 2019 (UTC)

Image Uploads

Just a quick reminder, if you upload an image that is super dark, categorize it with "Brighter Image Needed" I believe that is category. That way I can run through and fix any darkened images. :) Also try to get them as elongated for the infobox as possible and not "Boxy" I know it's hard with the secondary characters at times. Thanks for all your help, as always. QueenBuffy35px-Pink crown 18:24, April 15, 2019 (UTC)

Gallery vs Image Galleries

Just a heads up as I clean up the galleries. Image galleries such as "Gallery: Jon Snow" needs to be categorized with Image Galleries (and Gallery if you wish) only. Other categorized pages, like "Category:Image of Object" need only "Gallery and Images", not "Image Galleries" Since it isn't a gallery like the "Gallery: Samwell Tarly" pages. - You will see ALL categories still here, so this change won't change too much. If you look at "" You will now see that only the character and episode Image Galleries should be there. This just organizes it better. I've made the chances to the upload image rules for the Wiki. Let me know if this was too confusing or if you have questions. :) Now then, back to editing. QueenBuffy35px-Pink crown 16:02, April 16, 2019 (UTC)

Tabbers above infoboxes

Let me know what you think. I've done it here in my sandbox: SANDBOX INFOBOX TAB IDEA. Thanks! QueenBuffy35px-Pink crown 15:15, April 28, 2019 (UTC)

Jon Snow

Hello, Greater Good. Can you please unlock Jon Snow? Though admins generally lock such articles over fears of vandalism, this one was simply locked again because an admin had a dispute with another user over which banners should be there in the article. I asked the admin to unlock it, but he didn't answer back.

All of the main character articles are unlocked except Jon Snow. It proves a barrier in quickly updating the article. I hope you can unlock it. Thank you. MatthewOne (talk) 11:07, May 20, 2019 (UTC)

Hello, Greater Good. The person seems to have developed a grouse against me and is editing in revenge. He falsely accused me of vandalism at my talk page and the article of Daenrys Targaryen.

He reverted my edits at Stark Soldier (Andrew McClay), which were merely making changes to my own previous edits there. He gave no explanation.

This thing started after I undid one of his edits showing Jon Snow as a former lover of Daenerys Targaryen, and also told him to not leave troll summaries after he left "Allahu Akbar" in his troll summary. This is his original edit.

I hope you can tell him to desist from such behavior. MatthewOne (talk) 22:53, May 28, 2019 (UTC)

NegatronX has taken to edit-warring instead of discussing at the article talk page. He's also falsely accusing me of vandalism, saying only his edit is correct and he will keep doing it. Can you please take action? MatthewOne (talk) 23:06, May 28, 2019 (UTC)

He's removing my comments from his talk page as well and insulting me as well. Please have this stopped. MatthewOne (talk) 23:10, May 28, 2019 (UTC)

Where is Jacks?

Hello. Just watched The Old Gods and the New, but where is the character Jacks in Robb's camp? Paul Caddell, who played Jacks, is listed in the episode's credits, but I am unable to find him in the actual episode... ----Braeden32

Unidentified Great council lord

Hello Kevin,

I was wondering if by chance you were privy to any information that the rest of us are not confirming which region these two characters are from. The actors' IMDB pages lists the first lord as "Riverlands lird" and the second lord as "Vale lord" but I was wondering if by chance you could provide something more conclusive than that. Shaneymike (talk) 02:52, July 17, 2019 (UTC)

Issue with Admins and Catelyn STark's wiki page

Hello I just had an issue where an administrator decided to protect Catelyn Stark's wiki page from any editing, I added additional info which has constantly been removed by these admins. I read a little more about the subject and found this (in photo). It says that admins CANNOT do this simply because there is a dispute regarding certain information. The admin that did this was Shaneymike, clearly he cannot adhere to the rules and follow through with the responsibilities of being an admin, admins should be people that actually are fit for the position. I edited that Catelyn Stark had Titles: such as Lady of Winterfell because that's what she was, and Queen Mother when Robb was named King in the North, that makes her a Queen Mother. I also added that she was also known as 'Lady Stark" and "She-wolf" because those are names used to call her in the show. I also changed the picture because the current one is too bright and not very good quality. It's not fair that these admins constantly undo my edits because it's not like im adding any type of vandalism but simply pure facts. Thank you for your time. Diago Dayne (talk) 20:06, December 11, 2019 (UTC)

Banning of Dave chaves

Hello, a user named Dave chaves has been banned on here, can you help? We've made a thread about it on central, the details are there. Thank you!

New Wiki Manager

Hi there! I'm Kylara, and I'll be your @fandom Wiki Manager for Game of Thrones Wiki, picking up from your previous wiki manager.

How's everything going? The wiki looks pretty solid, but if you ever have any questions, let me know! I'm here to help!

Discussions admin

Hi again! Not sure if you're aware, but there's been discussion lately about having an admin dedicated to the Discussions area of the wiki. The current admin are mainly focused on the editing area, which is great, but Discussions is very active with different community needs.

Admin Xanderen, Moonracer, Ser Shield McShield, and Shaneymike have been discussing and have agreed that Discussions Moderator Reverb frost is the candidate they would like promoted to admin to handle Discussions. They now need a bureaucrat to appoint him, or for me to do so on the community's behalf.

I understand you haven't been able to be too involved in the wiki lately, but as you are a bureaucrat who's been active in the last 60 days, I wanted to run this by you first. Would you promote Reverb frost to admin, or do you have any objections if I do so on behalf of the admin consensus? Please let me know, as this is a current issue that needs attention and we will ideally be moving forward within the next few days.

For future community needs, would you be interested in promoting another active admin to bureaucrat? Or I could act as needed with admin consensus. Let me know!
