Behind the scenes[]
Tygett is featured in the family tree of House Lannister in Archmaester Ebrose's A Song of Ice and Fire.[1] He is not mentioned or featured elsewhere in the series.
In the books[]
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Tygett's genealogy and relation to the other Lannisters are the almost the same. Though he is the youngest brother per the season 8 prop's genealogy, he is the second-youngest in the book series, older than Gerion.
Tygett had a stormy relationship with his oldest brother, Tywin, who overshadowed all of his siblings, but he was kind to Tyrion. Whereas Kevan has always been obedient and loyal to Tywin, and Gerion almost feuded with him, Tygett tried to become independent of him and his own man, but he never matched Tywin, which made him angrier as the years went by.
In contrast to the novels, in which Tygett is mentioned very scantly, there is plenty of information about him in The World of Ice & Fire: when he was ten years old, he fought in the War of the Ninepenny Kings, killing four men, including a knight of the Golden Company. Tywin and Kevan earned knighthoods from the war, but Tygett was too young to earn his spurs; his courage and skill were remarked upon, though. According to a semi-canon source, he served as a squire when Tywin suppressed the revolt of Houses Tarbeck and Reyne, and eventually was knighted. Tywin tried to name him as the Master-at-arms at the Red Keep, but Aerys chose Ser Willem Darry instead.
Tygett died of a pox some years before the beginning point of the series. He was survived by his only son Tyrek, who served as a squire for King Robert Baratheon, alongside his cousin Lancel. Tyrek mysteriously disappeared at the riots in King's Landing, and his body was never found.
