On the subject of the Yunkai having "uniformally dark-skinned slaves", if one were to look hard enough at the scene, some of the the extras depicting the Yunkish slaves were white. Also, as this scene was filmed in Morocco, it would come as no surprise, because Morocco has a very mixed population of Arabs, black-skinned Tuaregs, Haratin and Gnawa, and lighter-skinned Riffian Berbers.
