I do not think this should exist as an article...or rather, that it should be retitled and refocused on the trial by combat between Oberyn and Gregor.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 03:11, May 26, 2014 (UTC)

Well I see you already added the link: "next: Trial by combat of Tyrion Lannister". I think we should just combine these two pages together under that name.
Secondly...Tyrion already had a Trial by combat in the Eyrie. Is there a better name for this? "Trial by combat of Oberyn Martell versus Gregor Clegane" or something?--The Dragon Demands (talk) 00:58, June 2, 2014 (UTC)

"In the books"[]

The "In the books" section is longer than the actual article, and needs to be gutted down to the basic minimum.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 15:17, July 1, 2014 (UTC)

Division and Nomenclature[]

Given that enough people wanted a separate article for the actual "trial" that takes place in Season 4, "The Laws of Gods and Men", fine.

But we need to revise the nomenclature:

  • First Trial by combat of Tyrion Lannister - Bronn vs Ser Vardis in the Eyrie
  • Trial of Tyrion Lannister - accused of killing Joffrey, Tywin is judge
  • Second Trial by combat of Tyrion Lannister - the Mountain and the Viper

Right now we're calling the trial at the Eyrie the "first trial of Tyrion", the one Tywin judges the "second", and then the Oberyn/Mountain fight "the Trial by combat of Tyrion Lannister" -- this makes no sense: there was no "trial" with a judge at the Eyrie...it was the first trial by combat. The Mountain/Viper fight was the second. The courtroom trial was the "Trial of Tyrion".

Also...for the sake of clarity, I think we should make a minor revision: currently the way the articles link is that it goes from the courtroom trial, to the Fall of Moat Cailin, then to the Mountain/Viper fight. While this is the order these scenes appeared in, it kind of makes more sense to put the courtroom trial and Mountain/Viper fight right next to each other....particularly because the Mountain/Viper fight and the Fall of Moat Cailin actually happen in the same episode. The Mountain/Viper fight was shown last on screen in that episode because it was a good cliffhanger, but they're happening in entirely different sections of the continent...and, arguably, happening simultaneously. So I think there would be no problem listing the Mountain/Viper fight as before the Fall of Moat Cailin, just to keep it next to the Courtroom Trial of Tyrion.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 14:19, September 28, 2014 (UTC)

Does anyone still think this should exist as a separate article? I think it should be merged as a "Prelude" section for "Second Trial by Combat of Tyrion Lannister".--The Dragon Demands (talk) 04:38, February 12, 2015 (UTC)
