Ryan J. Condal is a screenwriter and producer. He and Miguel Sapochnik will serve as showrunners for the prequel House of the Dragon.[1] He has previously been a showrunner for the American science fiction drama series Colony.[2] He has also worked on a cancelled fantasy western, at the filming of which he met George R. R. Martin. Condal is familiar with A Song of Ice and Fire, having discovered the series when A Storm of Swords was published. According to Martin, Condal originally wanted to create a show about The Tales of Dunk & Egg, a series that Martin claims is not ready to be brought to television.[3]
Condal wrote the pilot script and series bible for House of the Dragon.[4]
