Peter Claffey (born July 28, 1996) is an Irish actor and former rugby player. He will portray Duncan the Tall in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.[1]
Biography[]
Peter Claffey was born in Galway, Ireland. From 2015 to 2018 he played professional rugby, signing with Connacht Rugby for the 2018 season. He later shifted to acting, however, and moved to Dublin to train at Bow Street Academy. In 2022 he appeared in television series such as Wreck and Bad Sisters. In 2023, Claffey performed in a sold-out run of Tom Murphy's A Whistle in the Dark at the Abbey Theatre.[2]
When he was cast as Dunk in early 2024, Claffey was 27 years old and 1.96 meters tall,[3] or about 6 feet 4 and a half inches. This makes him roughly a decade older than Dunk was in his first prequel story, and slightly shorter: the infamously tall Duncan was "an inch short of seven feet tall" when he was only 17 years old and still growing.
