- This page is about the island. For the castle, see: Oakenshield Castle
Oakenshield[1] is one of the four Shield Islands, west of the Reach. It has at least two settlements, Oakenshield Castle and Hewett's Town.[2]
In the books[]
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Oakenshield is ruled by House Hewett. Owen Oakenshield was a son of Garth Greenhand who conquered the Shield Islands, but his relation to House Hewett is unknown.
After he is elected King of the Isles and the North, Euron Greyjoy conquers the island and names Nute the Barber its new lord.
