Mormont Keep[a] is a castle on Bear Island in the North. It is named for House Mormont, its historical rulers.
History[]
Game of Thrones: Season 6[]
Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, and Davos Seaworth visit Mormont Keep to seek an audience with Lyanna Mormont, the Lady of Bear Island. Lyanna musters 62 men-at-arms from her household to fight in Jon's army.[1]
In the books[]
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Mormont Keep is a castle with wooden walls and a smoky keep.[2] The main hall is built with large logs and surrounded by a palisade of earth.[3] A carving on the gate depicts a woman with a babe in one hand and a battleaxe in the other.[4] The name "Mormont Keep" is not mentioned in the books, but is provided in the A Song of Ice and Fire Campaign Guide.
