A Prince of Pentos beds the Maids of the Field and Seas
- "On the New Year, to bring good fortune to Pentos, this Prince must deflower the Maid of the Field and the Maid of the Seas. I confess I don’t know how each is chosen, or what becomes of them after serving their purpose."

Maid of the Field is the title given to one of the two maidens that, by tradition, the Prince of Pentos must deflower each new year to bring good fortune to the city. The other maid is known as the Maid of the Seas.[1]
