1 Jaehaerys had thirteen children in all. For simplicity, only the direct ancestors of future generations are on this family tree and they are not in the exact order of birth. The thirteen children in correct order are: Aegon, Daenerys, Aemon, Baelon, Alyssa, Maegelle, Vaegon, Daella, Saera, Viserra, Gaemon, Valerion, and Gael.

2 Due to the nature of their respective births and deaths, Baelon Targaryen, son of Viserys and Aemma, and Visenya Targaryen, daughter of Rhaenyra and Daemon, are not included on this family tree.

3 While Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey are officially Laenor's, he and Rhaenyra never had any biological issue. Their three sons were in fact fathered by Harwin Strong.

Behind the scenes[]

While Maelor has not yet appeared in House of the Dragon or the Official Guide, he is included in the opening credits of Season 1 as one of three children of Aegon and Helaena who are represented by a six-fingered hand. Ryan Condal has confirmed that Maelor has not yet been born within the timeline of the TV series.[2]

In "The Queen Who Ever Was," Aegon confesses to Larys Strong that his fall at Rook's Rest had destroyed his genitals, making it all but certain that Maelor will never be born during the series.[3]

According to George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal initially planned for Maelor to be born in Season 3. However, Martin speculated that this plan changed during Season 2, and Maelor will simply never be born at all.[4]

In the books[]

In Fire & Blood, Maelor was the second son of King Aegon II Targaryen and the brother of Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. After the assassination of his older brother, Maelor became Aegon's heir.

When Aegon escapes from the capital with Larys, he takes Maelor and Jaehaera with him.
