Lord Confessor[1] is a position in the royal court of the Seven Kingdoms. The Lord Confessor is tasked with extracting information from people, mostly from prisoners and often by means of torture.
Lord Larys Strong served as Lord Confessor under Viserys I and Aegon II.[1]

In Fire & Blood, there are several officials known as "confessors" overseen by the Lord Confessor, who is in turn overseen by the King's Justice.[2]
Maegor I's Lord Confessor was arrested upon the accession of Jaehaerys I.[3]
Larys Strong served as a confessor and later Lord Confessor under Viserys I and Aegon II.[4]
Since the reign of Daeron II, the office of Lord Confessor has remained vacant.[2]
