In the books[]

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, House Staunton's words and sigil are unknown, though according to semi-canon sources the latter is two black wings upon a white fess on checkered black and grey.

During Jaehaerys Targaryen's uprising, Lord Staunton remained loyal to King Maegor but eventually surrendered the Red Keep to Jaehaerys. He, along with Lord Darklyn and Jordan Towers, was imprisoned in the black cells and later pardoned by Jaehaerys. Lord Staunton spoke with the king when the latter resided at Dragonstone.

Lord Staunton's daughter Cassella was murdered by Androw Farman at Dragonstone in 54 AC. Five years later, Lord Staunton died of the Shivers along with his wife and children.

Lord Symond Staunton was Aerys II Targaryen's master of laws. He attempted to outlaw tourneys.
