House Hollard[1] is an extinct vassal house of the Crownlands, once holding fealty to House Darklyn of Duskendale. The house was once powerful, but over the years it fell into disgrace.
Known members[]
Ser Dontos Hollard's breast-plate displays the heraldry of House Hollard.
- Ser {Symon Hollard}, a knight. Killed by Ser Barristan Selmy in revenge for the death of Ser Gwayne Gaunt during the Defiance of Duskendale.
- {Robin Hollard}, a squire. When King Aerys II Targaryen was taken prisoner at the start of the Defiance of Duskendale, Robin mocked and taunted the captive king, even daring to pull on the king's beard. After the Defiance was suppressed, Robin was taken back to King's Landing as a prisoner and tortured to death in the Red Keep's dungeons on Aerys's orders.
- Ser {Dontos Hollard}, called "Dontos the Red", the last living member of the family. Served at the Red Keep as King Joffrey Baratheon's fool since Joffrey's nameday tourney, to which Dontos showed up drunk. Killed by crossbowmen serving Lord Petyr Baelish after helping Sansa Stark escape the Purple Wedding at Baelish's command (and promise of payment), marking the extinction of the House.
In the books[]
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, House Hollard was an ancient house sworn to House Darklyn, having three daughters wedded to Darklyn kings during the Age of Heroes. Following the Defiance of Duskendale, the entire House was executed at Aerys II's command, except for the infant Dontos Hollard, who was allowed to live at Ser Barristan Selmy's request.

- ↑ In "Winter Is Coming," which takes place in 298 AC, Sansa Stark tells Cersei Lannister that she is 13 years old and Bran Stark tells Jaime Lannister that he is 10 years old. Arya Stark was born between Sansa and Bran, making her either 11 or 12 in Season 1. The rest of the Stark children have been aged up by 2 years from their book ages, so it can be assumed that she is 11 in Season 1. Arya is 18 in Season 8 according to HBO, which means at least 7 years occur in the span of the series; therefore, each season of Game of Thrones must roughly correspond to a year in-universe, placing the events of Season 4 in 301 AC.
