House Hardyng[b] is a noble house from the Vale of Arryn. They are sworn to House Waynwood.[a]
Known members[]
- Ser Humfrey Hardyng,[1] a knight during the reign of Daeron II Targaryen.[2]
In the books[]
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, House Hardyng is a house of landed knights sworn to House Waynwood. By the fourth book, Littlefinger suggests marrying Harrold Hardyng to Sansa (masquerading as Littlefinger's bastard daughter "Alayne Stone"). Harrold is House Arryn's heir due to the uncertain health of Robin Arryn (called Robert in the books). It is implied Littlefinger will "help" Robert die, making Harrold the new Lord of the Vale, which would also make Sansa Lady of the Vale by marriage.[3]
In the Dunk & Egg novellas, Ser Humfrey Hardyng is a renowned tourney knight of the family.
Known members[]
- Ser Harrold Hardyng, called Harry the Heir. A ward of Lady Anya Waynwood.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch there are also:
- Deana Hardyng, the wife of Walton Frey (third son of Stevron Frey). They have three children together; Steffon, Walda and Bryan Frey.
Historical members[]
- Ser Humfrey Hardyng, a participant at the tourney at Ashford Meadow.
- Unnamed landed knight, the father of Harrold Hardyng.
- Unknown Waynwood, his wife, the youngest daughter of Ser Elys Waynwood and Alys Arryn.
