House Fossoway[2][d] of Cider Hall is a vassal house from the Reach that holds fealty to House Tyrell. Their seat is Cider Hall and their sigil is a red apple on a gold field.
History[]
Game of Thrones: Season 2[]
House Fossoway follows its liege lords, House Tyrell, in pledging support to Renly Baratheon's claim to the Iron Throne. Following Renly's death, however, the Fossoways do not follow their Tyrell overlords, but instead go over to Stannis. They participate in the Battle of the Blackwater.[3]
Members[]
- Symun Fossoway, betrothed to Lady Talla Tarly.
Historical members[]
- Ser {Steffon Fossoway}, a knight during the reign of Daeron II Targaryen.
- {Raymun Fossoway}, Steffon's cousin.
In the books[]
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, House Fossoway of Cider Hall is commonly referred as the red-apple Fossoways, to differentiate them from the other branch of the house, the "green apple" Fossoways of New Barrel, who split from the red apples sometime after 209 AC. Their motto is not mentioned in the books; according to semi-canon sources, it is "A Taste of Glory".
After Stannis's defeat at the Battle of the Blackwater, they bend the knee to Joffrey.
Known members[]
- Ser Tanton Fossoway
- Ser {Bryan Fossoway}. Slain at the Battle of the Blackwater by Lothor Brune
- Ser {Edwyd Fossoway}. Slain at the Battle of the Blackwater by Lothor Brune
The familiar relations among the above is unknown.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch there are also:
- Ser Franklyn Flowers, "the Bastard of Cider Hall". A sellsword, a member of the Golden Company.
- Leonette Fossoway, married to Ser Garlan Tyrell (the elder brother of Margaery and Loras Tyrell). It is unclear whether she belongs to the red or the green apple branches of the house.

Notes[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 In "Winter Is Coming," which takes place in 298 AC, Sansa Stark tells Cersei Lannister that she is 13 years old and Bran Stark tells Jaime Lannister that he is 10 years old. Arya Stark was born between Sansa and Bran, making her either 11 or 12 in Season 1. The rest of the Stark children have been aged up by 2 years from their book ages, so it can be assumed that she is 11 in Season 1. Arya is 18 in Season 8 according to HBO, which means at least 7 years occur in the span of the series; therefore, each season of Game of Thrones must roughly correspond to a year in-universe, placing the events of Season 2 in 299 AC.
