- "When Haegon was executed, Bittersteel crowned Haegon's elder son Daemon III, who, in turn, was slain by the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall."
- ―Varys
The Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion was an invasion of Westeros by the forces of House Blackfyre and the Golden Company during the reign of Aegon V Targaryen. The war ended with Daemon III Blackfyre's death at the hands of Ser Duncan the Tall.[1]
In the books
As detailed in The World of Ice & Fire, the Great Council of 233 AC saw Aenys Blackfyre executed by Brynden Rivers after he attempted to press his claim. This would anger the Golden Company and Aenys's nephew Daemon III. Delayed by a harsh winter, the exiles crossed the narrow sea three years later and landed on Massey's Hook in the crownlands. The war would prove brief, as the invaders had virtually no support from any of the lords of Westeros. Daemon was killed by Duncan the Tall in the Battle of Wendwater Bridge. Aegor Rivers died in exile a few years later, but this did not stop Maelys Blackfyre from rebelling a fifth time in the War of the Ninepenny Kings.
