It was preceded by Game of Thrones: Season 2 (Music from the HBO Series), released in 2012, and followed by Game of Thrones: Season 4 (Music from the HBO Series), released in 2014.

Behind the scenes[]

  • For the release of the third season soundtrack, the label was changed from Varèse Sarabande to Watertower Music. The album's initial release was digital-only, with a physical release to follow several weeks later.
  • Kerry Ingram, who plays Princess Shireen Baratheon, sings the track for "It's Always Summer Under the Sea." Her character sang it within Season 3's fifth episode, "Kissed by Fire", and then Ingram's cover of the song played over the episode's end credits. Ingram is a child star in musical theater, having played "Matilda" in Matilda the Musical.
  • "Bones" by MS MR and "The Game Has Changed" by Daft Punk appeared in trailers.
