This page is about the father of Petyr Baelish. For the Game of Thrones character, see: Petyr Baelish

"During the War of the Ninepenny Kings, a cheap name for a cheap cause, where other men fought for the king, my father fought to befriend Hoster Tully, Lord Paramount of the Trident and head of one of the oldest and greatest houses in Westeros. Thanks to my father's heroic efforts, Lord Hoster agreed to foster me at Riverrun with his own children."
Petyr Baelish[src]

Lord Baelish was the father of Petyr Baelish.

Biography[]

During the War of the Ninepenny Kings, he fought for the favor of Lord Hoster Tully, Lord of Riverrun and Lord Paramount of the Trident. He won his friendship and Lord Hoster agreed to foster Baelish's son Petyr at Riverrun alongside his own children Catelyn, Lysa, and Edmure.[1]

In the books[]

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, little is known about Littlefinger's father. His first name is not mentioned. According to Tyrion, he was the "smallest of small lords". He died several years before the beginning point of the series and was succeeded by Littlefinger.

In A Storm of Swords, when Littlefinger and Sansa tour the Fingers, Littlefinger tells that when was a boy, his father took him to see a hermit, who supposedly had the gift of prophecy. The hermit said Littlefinger would be a great man, and for that Littlefinger's father gave him a skin of wine.

According to George R.R. Martin, the story of Littlefinger's father is the same as told in Histories & Lore.[2]
