Defender of the Citadel[1] is a title traditionally held by the Lord of Oldtown, referring to the Citadel of the maesters.[1] Its current holder is Leyton Hightower.

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, "Beacon of the South" is one of the many styles used by the head of House Hightower. Others include "Beacon of the South," "Defender of Oldtown," "Lord of Oldtown," "Lord of the Hightower" (sometimes "High Tower"), "Lord of the Port," "and "Voice of Oldtown."
