In the books[]
In The World of Ice & Fire and Fire & Blood, Daemon served as Hand to King Jaehaerys after the dismissal of Rogar Baratheon. He resigned following the death of his sister, Queen Alyssa Velaryon, and the murder of his niece, Lianna Velaryon. Daemon outlived all of his sons and was succeeded by Corlys Velaryon, the son of his eldest son Corwyn.
