"Little Calla is only seven, but she admires you very much."
Fennesz to Daenerys Targaryen[src]

Calla is a Meereenese noble.

Biography[]

Background[]

Calla is the seven-year-old daughter of Master Mighdal, one of the Great Masters of Meereen. She was tutored by a slave named Fennesz before Daenerys Targaryen abolished slavery in the city.[1]

Game of Thrones: Season 4[]

When Fennesz explains his background to Daenerys, he mentions that Calla has come to admire her after learning about her family's history and her accomplishments.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The name "Calla" was selected by the show writer D.B. Weiss in honor of Carla, the wife of his beloved childhood friend David Migdal (Mighdal).

In the books[]

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, there is no equivalent to this character. The only other person named "Calla" is Calla Blackfyre, a daughter of Daemon I Blackfyre.

Notes[]

  1. In "The Children," which takes place in 301 AC, Fennesz states that Calla is 7 years old; therefore, she was born in 294 AC.
  2. In "Winter Is Coming," which takes place in 298 AC, Sansa Stark tells Cersei Lannister that she is 13 years old and Bran Stark tells Jaime Lannister that he is 10 years old. Arya Stark was born between Sansa and Bran, making her either 11 or 12 in Season 1. The rest of the Stark children have been aged up by 2 years from their book ages, so it can be assumed that she is 11 in Season 1. Arya is 18 in Season 8 according to HBO, which means at least 7 years occur in the span of the series; therefore, each season of Game of Thrones must roughly correspond to a year in-universe, placing the events of Season 8 in 305 AC.
