Background[]
Ser Arlan fought in a series of border conflicts with Dorne. He knighted Criston Cole, a footsoldier and son of the steward of Blackhaven, after the razing of two Dornish watchtowers along the Boneway.[1]

Criston mentions Ser Arlan when he is brought before Rhaenyra Targaryen in Maegor's Holdfast as a candidate to replace Ser Ryam Redwyne on the Kingsguard.[1]
