Ser Alester Tyrell was an Andal knight and the founder of House Tyrell.

Biography

During the coming of the Andals, Alester led the invasion of the Reach. The rulers of the region, House Gardener, accepted him into their service, and House Tyrell became the hereditary stewards of their future seat Highgarden.

In the books

In The World of Ice & Fire, Alester Tyrell was one of many knights taken into the service of House Gardener and became the sworn shield of King Gwayne V Gardener, who was the last of the Three Sage Kings. Alester's eldest son became a notable knight but was killed in a tourney, while his second son Gareth was more studious and chose to serve as a royal steward instead of pursuing knighthood.
