A Song of Ice and Fire.

Tyrion: "What's this?"
Samwell: "A Song of Ice and Fire. Archmaester Ebrose's history of the wars following the death of King Robert. I helped him with the title."
Tyrion Lannister and Grand Maester Samwell[src]

A Song of Ice and Fire,[1] formerly titled A Chronicle of the Wars Following the Death of King Robert I,[2] is a book detailing the events of the War of the Five Kings and the Last War after the death of King Robert Baratheon. The book is written by Archmaester Ebrose with the assistance of Samwell Tarly, who came up with the title. This is the first book written by an archmaester that presents the bastardy of Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen Baratheon as fact, along with the incest of Cersei and Jaime Lannister.[3]

History[]

Game of Thrones: Season 7[]

Archmaester Ebrose mentions this book to Sam, who is unimpressed by the chronicle's unpoetic title.[2]

Game of Thrones: Season 8[]

Sam, now Grand Maester, shows the book to Tyrion during a Small Council meeting. Tyrion is distressed to hear that the book does not mention him (save for an appearance on the Lannister family tree).[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The book is a call back to the real life book series A Song of Ice and Fire, on which the TV series is based.
