Some of us have been waiting exactly 8 years for The Winds of Winter. Before that, people waited around 5 years and 10 months for A Dance with Dragons, before that about 5 years and two months for A Feast for Crows. Before that only one year and about nine months for A Storm with Swords. A Clash of Kings 2 years and 3 months.
Soon, it will have been 23 years ago since A Song of Ice and Fire was started. And we still don't have The Winds of Winter.
Given that The Winds of Winter will be likely around 1500 pages, it'll be 500 pages longer than A Dance with Dragons. So if George will ever release this book, it shouldn't really take that long. Perhaps 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023? Likely in a few years.
I'm fairly new to A Song of Ice and Fire, only 2 years long a fan. But I'm so desparate for this book. It's been a year since I finished A Dance with Dragons. Yet I really want to read the new book. Sure it's interesting to re-read the books, but it's not as nice as reading it for the first time. I do believe that The Winds of Winter will be fairly different from Season 6, so I hope that we'll be able to experience new events.
I know this post was basically useless, but though people can wait, I do believe that George is delaying the book way too much.
