<p>You know, the haughty guy that didn't like Littlefinger. He is acting Lord of the Vale, I presume, so why wasn't he on the battlefield? He was in the first two episodes of the season, not in the third, but he is mentioned again in the Wiki-article for the fourth episode.</p>
The knights of the Vale weren’t intended to be a focal point; after the Battle of the Bastards I believe we’re just supposed to assume their presence because they are the main body of Sansa’s military strength/support.

<p>I know which scene you mean, but I don't believe that was Yohn Royce. You see a reaction shot of an elderly man about to soil his armour, and a little later, you see him running away yelping, and Brienne shouts: Stand your Ground!</p><p>

He wasn't Yohn Royce..That guy is a war veteran and a staunch loyalist, check his history out..I don't believe he ran..

I don’t think he and his army were there. Hopefully they still have the knights of the vale
They were there when Jamie got interrogated. They didn't leave that quickly

<p>In the begiining of the episode you can see Brienne and behind her are knights/soldiers bearing shields with the Arryn sigil, so the Vale Knights were there, but commanded by Brienne, not Yohn Royce. Maybe his absence will be explained in the next episode.</p><p>(Usually, when a character in a series is suddenly absent, I say 'he is fetching the mail'. This comes from an anecdote from the cowboy-series Rawhide. There were a few episodes where Clint Eastwood's character Rowdy Yates was absent, and the saying was that 'he was fetching the mail' in whatever town they were near).</p><p>
